Today we visited the students at Cairns State High School to talk about our different roles in the industry.
As the most common answer to many students around Cairns regarding what trade they want to do is "𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲" I brought in our trade tools for a show and tell.
The students and I had the amazing opportunity to use the virtual reality headsets to see a live site in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 300 Geroge Street, and listen to various employees from Multiplex talk about their roles and take us on a 360-degree tour of the large commercial site.
I wanted to drive home that it is okay at their age to not feel the pressure of what they want to do as many are still not sure. Give construction ago. You can start as a labourer and then decide what trade you would like to focus on.
I loved the slogan that was displayed "𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚". The students now know about our trade "Solid Plastering" and will look at the iconic buildings around Cairns in a different way.
